With each release, we keep coming back to the same goal with PanelAlpha Engine: building the easiest way to self-host any project on a VPS. Version 2.1.0<\/strong> is a very good example of what we mean by that.<\/p>\n

Until now, getting a project running on a fresh server took two steps. First, you installed Engine. Then you created the project through CLI or MCP and gave Engine the repository you wanted to deploy. The process was already simple, but we saw no reason to keep those steps separate. With PanelAlpha Engine 2.1.0, they are now part of the same flow, so you can install Engine and start deploying a project from a Git repository with a one-line app installation command.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

For example, if you want to install PanelAlpha Engine and deploy n8n at the same time, you can do it with this:<\/p>\n\n\n

curl -fsSL get.panelalpha.com\/engine | sh -s — –repo https:\/\/github.com\/n8n-io\/n8n<\/p>\n\n\n

You can replace that URL with the Git repository of the project you actually want to deploy. So if you find something on GitHub that you want to run on your own VPS, the whole starting point can now be as simple as copying the repo URL, adding it to the command and running it on the server.<\/p>\n\n\n

The same command also works if Engine is already there<\/h2>\n\n\n

We did not want this to be useful only when you are setting up a brand new server. If you run the same command on a VPS where PanelAlpha Engine is already installed, Engine notices that and asks what you want to do. You can update Engine first, or skip that and just deploy the project from the repository you provided. That means you do not need to remember one process for a fresh server and another one for an existing setup. You can start from the same command and let Engine figure out what is already there and what needs to happen next.<\/p>\n

And that is really the whole point of this release. We want less of the setup to be your problem. If Engine can understand the state of the server, take the repository from the command and move the deployment forward without making you go through extra steps, that is exactly what it should do.<\/p>\n\n\n

One less step between the repo and your server<\/h2>\n\n\n

This update shows the progress we want to keep making around self-hosting, whether you built an app yourself or just found something cool on GitHub and want to run it on your own VPS. The goal is not only to make individual actions easier, but to reduce the number of actions users need to perform in the first place. And we are definitely not done removing them.<\/p>\n
