PanelAlpha has been in development for four years, and from the very beginning our mission has been to simplify web hosting technology for end users. So far, our main focus has been providing hosting providers and agencies with a platform for offering simple WordPress management to their customers, with automation, performance and self-service built around it.

We strongly believe that the role of the hosting industry is not only to provide stable and fast infrastructure, but also to make increasingly complex technology simple and accessible to its users. This has been our philosophy with PanelAlpha from the very beginning.

With the AI revolution happening right before our eyes, over the next few months we want to take this philosophy much further.

We are expanding PanelAlpha to support more technologies, more use cases, and new groups of users. A lot is going to happen, so in this post we want to outline where we are going and what will change.

Konrad Keck - PanelAlpha Founder & CEO
For a more personal look at the history of the project and the reasons behind this change, I wrote about it on my personal blog.

The industry is changing

There is little doubt that AI has permanently changed the way websites, applications and software projects are created. Like every major technology change, this brings both new opportunities and new risks.

There is no proven path yet. It is still not completely clear which products and models will work best, pressure to adapt is high and competition is growing quickly. But one thing seems clear: for most businesses in software, web development and SaaS, sticking to the status quo is unlikely to be a good long-term strategy.

We are seeing the same change among our customers and partners. WordPress remains extremely important, but more and more projects are now being built outside the traditional WordPress workflow, across professional teams, agencies and individual builders alike. At the same time, we increasingly hear about the need for platforms that fit naturally into AI development workflows, support a wider range of application stacks and make modern infrastructure easier to use.

For us, it is clear that the web hosting industry also needs to adapt to this change.

PanelAlpha Engine as an answer to this change

As the PanelAlpha team, we decided not to watch this change from the sidelines. We believe that what we have already built gives us a very strong base for addressing this new type of user and a much broader range of projects.

First of all, we realized that PanelAlpha Engine can become the center of this change. The Docker-based environment that we originally built as a backend for WordPress can be extended to support ANY project and ANY stack.

The new foundation

In practical terms, we want to turn PanelAlpha Engine into an environment where users and their AI agents can easily deploy, manage and maintain projects on their own server.

This gives users an alternative to PaaS platforms that can become expensive as projects grow, while at the same time being much simpler than self-hosting tools designed primarily by developers, for developers and sysadmins.

And importantly, PanelAlpha Engine is not a new prototype created only for this idea. It has already been used in production environments by our customers and developed against real hosting workloads. We are starting from technology that has already been tested in real use.

To be clear, this is also not simply about “building an MCP” and letting AI access a server.

The bigger goal is to drastically simplify how users interact with servers, while still keeping AI inside a controlled environment with clear boundaries around security and stability. AI should be able to deploy, troubleshoot and maintain a project, but it should not need unlimited access to everything on the server.

Simplicity also means that when something goes wrong, the user should not simply receive an error and be left alone with it. The Engine should help identify the problem, explain it, attempt to resolve known issues and continuously improve its support for new cases. This principle is one of the most important parts of how we want to develop PanelAlpha Engine.

First major step

In the next few days, we are releasing PanelAlpha Engine as fully open source.

We want the Engine to be available to anyone who needs a simple way to deploy and manage projects on a server. Just as importantly, we want to build a community around it and invite users and developers to help us improve it.

Our goal is for the Engine to work reliably with as many real-world projects as possible, including projects that are not built perfectly. This is becoming especially important as more people without years of development experience start building software with AI. The infrastructure should adapt to the project as much as possible, instead of expecting every user to become a DevOps engineer first.

PanelAlpha Engine 2.0 Sneak Peek

We believe this can make PanelAlpha Engine useful far beyond our existing user base and help establish it as a common layer between applications, servers and AI tools.

What’s next for PanelAlpha?

After releasing PanelAlpha Engine as open source, we will significantly increase our marketing activity and investment around the project. We want to reach communities where PanelAlpha has had very little presence so far, including developers, AI builders, vibe coders, agencies and VPS providers.

At the same time, we are expanding the product itself.

01

Single Server Edition

Our next major product step will be a new version of PanelAlpha Single Server Edition, supporting much more than WordPress.

It will provide a simple interface for deploying and managing different applications on a single server, while PanelAlpha Engine handles the technical parts underneath, including deployment, SSL, backups and other parts of application management. The goal is simple: make using your own server practical even for people who do not want to become server administrators.

02

PanelAlpha 2.0

By November at the latest, we plan to release PanelAlpha 2.0 and introduce a new direction for the product built around one idea: making it as simple as possible to deploy and manage any project.

At that point, we will also introduce the full commercial offering for PanelAlpha Single Server Edition. Most importantly, PanelAlpha will start with a completely free tier for personal use. Paid tiers will be available depending on the use case, with additional features, more professional tools and direct support from our team.

03

Multi Server Edition

Another important change will be a complete rebuild of the commercial offer for PanelAlpha Multi Server, which is the version our hosting providers and larger customers use today.

Our goal for the coming years is to make PanelAlpha technology as widely used as possible, and we still believe hosting providers are one of the most important ways to reach that scale.

We will share the full details soon, but one important change is already decided: starting with PanelAlpha 2.0, Multi Server pricing will move from a per-account model to a per-server model, with pricing designed to be significantly more competitive for hosting providers.

PanelAlpha 2-0 Sneak Peek

We’d love to hear from you

A lot will change over the next few months, but the main idea behind PanelAlpha stays exactly the same: make hosting and server technology simpler for the people who actually use it.

If you are already using PanelAlpha, run a hosting or VPS business, build applications with AI, or simply have a use case you think we should support, we would be very interested to hear from you.
